The Cardiovascular Pavilion at The Miriam Hospital, comprises three care areas that provide a spectrum of cardiovascular diagnostic and therapeutic services. Inpatients and outpatients receive comprehensive care from pre-admission testing to admission, through discharge, all in one location and with the same care team.
The pavilion’s newest feature is an 18-bed cardiovascular and endoscopy care unit (PCU), designed for patients coming from the cardiac catheterization lab, recovering from outpatient endoscopies, or those with peripheral arterial disease and pacemakers. There, patients meet their nursing team and tour the PCU. On the day of their admission to the PCU the same team will remain with them for pre-procedure through post-procedure care. Patients can be discharged directly from the unit, or, if necessary, may stay overnight in the pavilion rather than be transferred to a different area of the hospital.
The second care area in the pavilion is the Jonathan and Kathleen
Elion Noninvasive Cardiology and Vascular Imaging Suite, where all
echocardiogram tests, stress tests and non-invasive vascular
studies are performed. The third care area is a combination of three
catheterization labs and the electrophysiology lab.
Physicians who perform the procedures are immediately available to address patient care concerns pre- and post-procedure. All services are together, so there is no need to transport patients.
